Itinerary: Lima, Jaen, Chachapoyas, Gocta, Kuelap, Chachapoyas, Leymebamba, Cajamarca, Trujillo, Chiclayo, Lima.

Day 1 / Welcome to Peru

You will be welcomed at the airport. Transfer to your hotel in Miraflores, one of the best district of Lima, in front of the Pacific Ocean. You will meet the Evasion Perou’s staff. Introduction to the country (culture, history, issues) and of the tour itinerary.

Day 2 / Lima

In the morning guided tour with the visit of the historic center of Lima, World Heritage of UNESCO, the San Francisco church, the Cathedral, the Plaza San Martin and the Plaza de Armas.

Day 3 / Lima – Jaen – Chachapoyas

In the morning departure for the airport of Lima, for your flight to the city of Jaen. Then drive towards Chachapoyas to your hotel.

Day 4 / Chachapoyas – Gocta Waterfall

Visit of Gocta Waterfall, this name was given due to the sound a colony of monkeys used to make, and nowadays the colony has moved deeper into the forest. We will go through the cloud forest approaching the waterfall that can be seen in the distance. You will have a great chance to see exotic birds including toucans, humming birds and the Cock of the Rock (The National bird of Peru) as well as many shell-shaped fossils. On your arrival you may take the option of swimming in the refreshing black water pool, fed by the Gocta falls.

Day 5 / Chachapoyas – Karajia – Quiocta

Here we discover The Sarcophagi of Karajia, a unique burial site from the Chachapoyas culture. The decorated clay sarcophagi contained warrior chief mummies and they were placed on balconies built into the cliff side watching the sunrise over the Utcubamba valley for the last 750 years. Then we head back to the village to enjoy a traditional lunch of the Chachapoyas province. In the afternoon we visit Quiocta the largest cave in Peru at 550 meters which contains an impressive natural phenomena of mineral stalagmites several meters high and which have taken millenniums in forming.

Day 6 / Chachapoyas – Kuelap – Huancos

Visit of the famous ancient city of Kuelap known as “the Machu Picchu of Northern Peru”. This incredible archaeological complex is located high in the Andes and contains over 400 houses with walls of 17 meters high. It was the capital of the Chachapoyas culture (800 – 1570 AC) and until as recently as 30 years ago it would take 2 months to reach it from the nearest road. You could take the cable car to go there.
In the afternoon you will visit Huacos, where artisans make wooden and ceramic handicrafts and where you will have a spectacular view on the Sonche Canyon.

Day 7 / Chachapoyas – Leymebamba

Your first stop is the village of Santo Tomas. From this place, we start a short hike to the burial site of Revash. The tombs were built for the nobles of the community and look like miniature houses. They were made from adobe, clay and rocks and built towards the cliff-side and painted with shades of cream and red colors and typical motives from the Chachapoyas people.
We continue our trip to Leymebamba which was an Inca stronghold during the conquests of the area and later was also occupied by the Spanish invaders. This charming town still retains much of its charm and is a great place to have lunch.
After lunch we will have a visit to the local Leymebamba museum which houses a collection of more than 5000 artifacts and 200 mummies which were found in the 1997 discovery of the tombs of “La Laguna de Los Condores”.

Day 8 / Leymbebamba – Cajamarca

This trip will take us through the Calla Calla Mountain Range, which rises to 3600 m, before plunging into the deep canyon of the Marañón. We will cross a wide variety of ecological floors and incredible landscapes that only the Andes mountain range can offer us.

Day 9 / Cajamarca

In the morning, we will visit the archaeological complex of Cumbemayo. In an impressive landscape dominated by the famous rock forest, you can admire petroglyphs, a sanctuary and the aqueduct, one of the most important hydraulic engineering works in pre-Columbian America.
In the afternoon visit of the city of Cajamarca: plaza de armas, meeting place between Atahualpa and Francisco Pizarro, historical event which ended with the capture and execution of the Inca ruler. Then we will visit Santa Apolonia hill, the Cathedral, the church of San Francisco and the monumental complex of Belén, one of the most important colonial buildings in the city, which houses the medical museum, the archaeological and ethnographic museum. This discovery of Cajamarca will end with the Cuarto del Rescate.

Day 10 / Cajamarca – Trujillo

In the morning, road to the city of Trujillo. You will meet your guide in the valley of Chicama for a guided tour of the site “la Dama de Cao” and the “Huaca del Brujo”.

Day 11 / Trujillo

Visit of the center of Trujillo and its Plaza de Armas, Pizarro street, Plazoleta obviously to visit the House Urquiaga, Church is Merced, Palacio Iturregui, La Plazoleta del Recreo, House of emancipation, Cathedral.
Continuation with visiting the temple of Moche culture, pyramidal structure decorated with beautiful murals with representation of the God Ai-Paec, also known as the “Cutthroat” Pyramid of the Moon.
You will visit the new museum, with excavation screens and several multimedia shows.
Then we will go to Huanchaco, where we will see the fishermen sailing on their caballitos de totoras “reed horses” used since the pre-Inca era.
In the afternoon visit Chan Chan, capital of Chimu culture and the largest city of land in America: Nik-An Palace located 5km northwest of downtown.

Day 12 / Trujillo – Chiclayo

You will visit the archaeological complex of Huaca Rajada (Lord of Sipan) where the intact remains of a dignitary of the Moche hierarchy were discovered in 1987.
Until now there are still discoveries of new characters of the Moche culture.
Then you will visit the museum on site, where you will see photos and interesting objects from the excavation.

Day 13 / Chiclayo – Lima

Morning free to stroll through the streets of Chiclayo then transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima.
Transfer and installation to your hotel

Day 14 / Derniers instants péruviens

According to your flight schedule, we will arrange your departure. Transfer to the Airport. End of our services. Evasion Pérou wishes you a pleasent flight.
